Good Morning Veggie Fans,
Some nice weather on tap the next few days. The plants are finally showing it as well. First cherry tomatoes are coloring up in the greenhouses along the first diseases of the season. We have identified early blight and botrytis in some of the greenhouse tom's already.
Harvesting a few more cukes and summer squash today for market. Should be a good market I have produced some wicked pissa salsa and pesto. The pesto is extra cheesy this week. Plenty of cilantro and garlic in the salsa with a touch of chili powder and cumin.
Beetles continue to be a huge pain around here. In particular the ones in the greenhouses that come out at night to feed on my plants. Wreaking havoc in the basil and on the tiny pepper plants. Need to buy some nematodes.
CSA continues to go well and each week we learn something new in the area of supply chain logisitics and managment. (Thats a really polite way to see we manage to screw something up with the deliveries every week) Fortunately we have some great members who are very understanding and I think the quality of what we are doing buys us a bit of forgiveness. We are trying to get geared up for a winter CSA and figure out how to manage that one. Thinking every other week delivery or you can pick up at the Farmer's market on Saturdays. It may not be such a good idea.
Gotta go feed the hens and load the truck. Hope to see you at market today.
