Merry Christmas!

Well my oldest is home from her first semester at college, greenhouses look good, chickens are wicked happy, firewood is dry and no market for a few weeks. Nice time to take a break, enjoy family and friends while doing a bit of cooking. A big end of year thank you to my customers.
Still waiting for the first real snow storm and the chance to use the 6 foot snowblower I purchased. This is a big deal after walking behind a 2 foot snowblower for the last 6 years trying to keep the sides of the greenhouses clear. Signed up for a few conferences and even have the good fortune of a passenger/friend to go to the conferences with who has been farming for 30 years. Then NOFA has asked me to give a seminar on greenhouse production. It's one of those times where everything seems to be coming together and to form a nice balance of work and quality time. Best wishes into the New Year everyone!

Nice weather is over. Winter is actually going to arrive this week. Still a few things to do outside but not much that can't wait until spring. Need to get planning done for next year but just can't seem to find the time. So much for the "slow season". Plenty of interesting conferences this winter just not sure if I will have the time. I am to give a presentation at NOFA in Feb. on my greenhouses. That should be fun and interesting. Winter schedule works out well this year with a 3 week break from the market that goes from Dec. 19th to Jan. 7th. Trying to decide weather or not I will continue the CSA next year. Customers have been great and it's always fun to be able to talk to everyone. I am considering things from a business perspective as well as a sanity perspective. The sanity part comes from also doing the summer market every Saturday and family life is suffering for it. I will keep everyone posted as to what I decide. On another sanity note I am already getting a lot of great candidates for farm help for next season. It's going to be a tough decision especially since once I bring someone in I am very reluctant to change my mind. I will post again soon. Need to get my website updated as well.

Turned 47 today. Ouch! Snow wind and rain. Greenhouses look good just need more of them to meet demand. I will see if I can get a couple more bought this week. Farmer's market this Saturday Dec. 18th. Then no winter market until January 8th. That's a 3 week break for veggies.
Talk you soon joe
