Well that was fun last night......

Ahhh more rain, just what the farm needed. Great light show and now my help is trapped in Montpelier waiting for the toilet to explode due to flash flooding in the city. Makes me wonder if I have to deliver product today in a row boat. Well forging ahead.....plastic went down yesterday in preparation for actually trying to plant stuff outside next week. Things going in ---tomatillos for salsa, field tomatoes for sauce, sweet peppers, hot peppers, eggplant, and ground cherries. Lots of other stuff getting started and direct seeded as well.
Glad we took advantage of the  2 days of "dry" weather and got alot of prep and planting done. What a crazy beginning to the season, complete with tornado warnings.
On a lighter and slightly more dangerous note the snapping turtle migration and egg laying season has begun. For some reason every year about this time we have quite a few of them coming through the farm and trying to lay eggs in the greenhouses, compost pile, and other places. As a general rule we attempt to redirect them to the stream and hope the move on.
Well need to go inspect the grounds, check on the chickens and then try and make deliveries today.....

Rain or Shine, probably rain, we will be at the market tomorrow with plenty of goodies. Basil pesto, Asparagus, Salad, Eggs, Japanese Salad Turnips, and Radish.

  1. It is good to live on top of the hill this year. Awful flooding.
